Maritim has been successfully importing boating accessories for over 100 years.

Maritim’s history began in 1912, when Finska Yachtförmedlingsbyrån, Innehafvare Geitlin och Brandt started operations in Helsinki on Mannerheimintie. In 1915, the company moved to new premises in Eteläranta and in 1918 received its final name Oy Maritim Ab.

Originally, the main business of Oy Maritim Ab was to broker and sell boats. Although boating accessories were also sold in addition to boat sales – later also outboard motors (Maritim has sold more than 50,000 Evinrude outboard motors and was the first distributor of Silver boats) only in the 30s, when sailing grew, it was decided to focus on the wholesale of boating accessories. Later, the know-how was also extended to life raft and life jacket maintenance. Maritim is approved and certified by Traf and the leading manufacturers of life rafts and inflatable life jackets.

Maritim has had three stores: in Eteläranta (closed in 1996), Herttoniemi (closed in 2010) and Lauttasaari (closed in 2022). The stores in Herttoniemi and Lauttasaari became known to consumers as MaritimShops in 2007.

Maritim continues to operate as a wholesaler and importer of boating equipment, which has always been Maritim’s core business. Today, our range includes up to 12,000 different brand names. Wholesale is carried out in Finland, the Baltic countries, Poland and the Nordic countries. Maritim’s main customer groups are the boat industry, more than 300 dealers, public authorities, other industry and consumers. Products are also available through out at our online webshop.
